The BCF Deacon’s primary role is one of service: showing mercy and ministering to the needs of the local church body, and providing practical help wherever needed to enable church ministry to advance (Acts 6:2, 4). This ministry will include 1) helping to meet needs both within the church and wider community, and 2) the care and maintenance of our physical property and grounds.
We are so thankful for the ministry of this team, contributing so much to the life of BCF!
The Greek word diakonos means “servant”. In one sense all church members are servants but in the early church, the general term “deacon” began to be used in a more specific way, to designate an official position of practical care-giver in the local churches. The beginning of this servant leadership role may be seen in Acts 6, where seven men are assigned the responsibility to serve. We seek to continue that same kind of service throughout BCF under the guidance of our Deacons.
