BCF has, or has had a missions presence on every continent except Antarctica. Currently, we are involved in supporting about 45 families and individuals serving throughout the US and abroad. Ministries vary from campus movements to pioneering among unreached people groups. BCFers have served on everything from week-long summer trips to lifetime careers. There is a place for everyone in Missions!
BCF Supported Missionaries
We believe that we are all to respond to Jesus’ command to spread the gospel to all part of the earth by making disciples, we specifically support BCF missionaries around the world. We seek to provide ways of connecting our fellowship with individual missionaries and their families.
In addition to the long-term missionary work that BCF supports, there are several short-term trips and service project opportunities. Short-term trips can be valuable tools to help individuals assess whether they are being called to serve on the mission field and how God would have them use their gifts.
Missions and Evangelism:
We believe that a local church should have an outreach in its own community and beyond. Members are encouraged to give both to home and foreign missionary endeavors either directly or through the Fellowship. On the local level, members of Blacksburg Christian Fellowship are involved in evangelism in the community and on the university campus through Bible studies and personal witnessing. Many former members of the Fellowship are now serving the Lord in various home and overseas ministries.
BCF Missions Committee
The BCF Missions Committee is available to any active member in the Fellowship who is interested in a full-time or short-term mission project. We would like to offer our prayer support, counsel and suggestions as you go through the process of choosing and applying for a mission project. For those who need financial support it is the Missions Committee’s responsibility to make recommendations to the Elders.
We want to be a resource to you as you explore God’s calling, become prepared, and raise support. Most people will start interacting with the Missions Committee by filling out the application form.
Please email applications to the committee at email@example.com. If you do not have email access hard copy applications can be mailed to the BCF office (see footer below). If your picture is not in the directory, please include one as an attachment along with this application.
Request for financial support involves completing the application, meeting with the committee, and the committee’s recommendation to the Elders.
Give any of us a call if we can be of help in this process at any time. Committee members’ names, email addresses, and phone numbers are in the BCF directory.
Summer Missions Deadline:
If you are planning on going on a missions trip this summer, please note that requests for BCF support must be in by April 15th. See the short-term Application on the BCF website bcf-church.org under “Reaching Out.” Those going with BCF sponsored trips do NOT have to apply with the Missions Committee.
If you are interested in participating in summer missions at any level, please contact the BCF Missions Committee with your ideas or for more information. missions@bcf-
